Innovation Platform Foundation joins the Women in Digital Forum
We are pleased to announce that Aneta Będkowska, President of the Management Board of the Innovation Platform Foundation, has been appointed a Member of the Women in Digital Forum – a major European Union initiative established under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP) and one of the key pillars supporting the objectives of the Digital Decade Policy Programme.
The Women in Digital Forum serves as a strategic, expert-level hub for knowledge exchange and action-oriented collaboration. It brings together senior stakeholders from EU institutions, Member States, academia, industry, and civil society. Its mission is to develop targeted policy recommendations, foster cross-sector cooperation, and support the implementation of inclusive practices in areas such as digital policy, digital skills, leadership, and innovation across the European Union.
Despite growing awareness and progress, women remain significantly underrepresented in the European Union’s digital sector. Currently, they account for only 19% of ICT specialists and 33% of STEM graduates. This gap represents a structural challenge that affects Europe’s innovation capacity, competitiveness, and long-term resilience.
In line with the objectives highlighted in the 2024 State of the Union Report and the Digital Decade Policy Programme, the Forum contributes to efforts aimed at substantially increasing the number of ICT specialists in Europe and raising women’s participation in the sector to at least 40% by 2030.
By bringing together leading experts and practitioners from across the digital ecosystem, the Forum helps ensure that Europe’s digital transformation is not only technologically advanced but also inclusive, socially equitable, and sustainable.
The Women in Digital Forum also plays a vital role in promoting digital skills and awareness—competencies that are increasingly important in an era of rapid technological development and growing cyber threats affecting both individuals and organizations.
Congratulations, Aneta, and best wishes for this important mission supporting Europe’s digital future.
