Personal Data Protection and New Technologies

From Brussels to Warsaw, data protection remains one of the key topics shaping discussions across the European Union.

The Innovation Platform Foundation participated in the Congress on Personal Data Protection and New Technologies, held on 28 January 2026 in Warsaw, Poland.

The conference was organized by Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), and the National Bar of Attorneys-at-Law (Krajowa Izba Radców Prawnych), under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

“Personal data comes with responsibility. Effective data protection is no longer only about compliance. In a data-driven economy, it is also about credibility, resilience, and long-term trust.” — European Parliament

“Privacy is not about revealing nothing. Privacy is about our personal right to choose what we share. Data protection exists to ensure that this right remains real.” — Dr. Krzysztof Gawkowski, Minister of Digital Affairs

“Data protection is also a cornerstone of legal protection. Its standards must be fully respected in systems based on automated processing and decision-making.” — Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office

The Congress brought together distinguished representatives of public administration, law firms, regulatory bodies, academia, business, technology sectors, data protection experts, practitioners, and institutions responsible for responding to cyber threats.

Keynote speakers and panelists shared valuable insights on the present and future challenges facing personal data protection in an era of rapidly advancing technologies, including artificial intelligence, process automation, and cybersecurity.

The event provided a unique opportunity to exchange experiences from local, European, and global perspectives, discuss emerging risks and challenges, propose new ideas, and raise important questions that the data protection community must continue to address.

“Personal data protection is both a right and a responsibility. Regulation is essential. Regulation does not limit innovation; regulation and innovation should reinforce one another. As technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, the rights of citizens must be protected more than ever. The purpose of personal data protection is to ensure that people remain subjects—not objects—within increasingly automated processes.” — Aneta Będkowska, President of the Management Board, Innovation Platform Foundation

It was an honor to participate in the Congress.

Thank you to the Personal Data Protection Office, the National Bar of Attorneys-at-Law, and the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
